# Preferences

> Configuring language, theme, measurement units, and preferred implant brands.

## Preferences

Navigate to **Settings > Preferences** to customise your NavNX experience. Preferences are stored per user and do not affect other team members.

## Language

Select your preferred language from the dropdown:

| Language | Code |
| -------- | ---- |
| English  | en   |
| French   | fr   |

The interface language changes immediately after saving. All labels, buttons, and system messages are translated. Clinical data (patient names, notes) remains in the language it was entered in.

<Note>
  Additional languages will be added as NavNX launches in new markets.
</Note>

## Theme

Choose your preferred colour theme:

| Theme      | Description                                                                    |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Light** | Light background with dark text |
| **Dark** | Dark background with light text — reduces eye strain in dimly lit environments |
| **System** | Follows your operating system's theme preference |

<Tip>
  Dark mode is recommended when reviewing imaging data, as it reduces glare and improves contrast perception on DICOM views.
</Tip>

## Measurement Units

Configure the unit system used for measurements and dimensions:

| Setting    | Options                                           |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| **Length** | Millimetres (mm) — standard for surgical planning |
| **Angle**  | Degrees                                           |

<Note>
  Millimetres and degrees are the standard units in orthopaedic surgical planning. These settings are provided for display formatting (e.g., decimal precision) rather than unit conversion.
</Note>

## Preferred Brands

Select the implant manufacturers you use most frequently. Preferred brands are prioritised in the implant catalogue and the planner's implant selector:

1. Click **Add Brand**.
2. Select a manufacturer from the list.
3. Repeat for additional brands.

To remove a preferred brand, click the **x** next to its name.

Preferred brands do not hide other manufacturers — they are simply shown first in search results and catalogue listings.
