MPR View

Multi-Planar Reconstruction (MPR) displays three orthogonal planes simultaneously, giving you a comprehensive view of the anatomy from all angles.

Layout

MPR uses a 2x2 grid layout:
PositionPane
Top-leftAxial — horizontal cross-section
Top-rightSagittal — side view (left-right division)
Bottom-leftCoronal — front-back view
Bottom-rightInfo — DICOM metadata and series information
Each imaging pane shows coloured crosshairs indicating the intersection point with the other two planes. Dragging the crosshairs in one pane updates the slice position in the other panes in real time.

Slice Counters

Each pane displays its own slice counter in the bottom corner, showing the current slice number and total for that orientation (e.g., Axial: 128/256).

Info Pane

The bottom-right pane displays DICOM metadata extracted from the imaging data:
  • Patient name and ID
  • Study date and description
  • Series description and modality (CT/MRI)
  • Slice thickness and spacing
  • Image dimensions and pixel spacing
  • Institution name
The info pane is read-only and reflects the metadata embedded in the DICOM files. NavNX does not modify DICOM metadata.
  • Scroll wheel on any imaging pane scrolls through slices in that orientation
  • Right-click drag adjusts window/level (applies to all three panes)
  • Crosshair drag repositions the intersection point across all panes

Tools in MPR

All planning tools work in MPR view:
  • Measurement tools (length, angle) can be placed on any pane
  • Tunnel entry/exit points can be defined on any plane
  • Annotations are visible in the pane corresponding to their slice
MPR is particularly useful for tunnel placement — define the entry point on the coronal view and verify the trajectory on the sagittal and axial views simultaneously.
